Description: Position description The Center for the Study of Democracy offers internship opportunities for outstanding university students, who are interested in gaining experience in an interdisciplinary public policy think tank. The main thematic areas of research and policy analysis for 2022 are: crime and security, justice, corruption and state capture, human rights and migration, energy security, energy transition and economic development, and foreign influence and disinformation. Requirements excellent university credentials fluency in English (second major EU language will be considered an advantage) computer literacy (spreadsheets, presentations) very good written and analytical skills organizational skills ability to quickly and efficiently perform searches in databases and in the Internet ability to work under pressure Responsibilities assist project preparation assist project management assist the day-to-day work of the organization Interns are expected to be well organized and able to adapt to a varying workload. They should have a strong desire to learn, a sense of responsibility as well as adaptability and flexibility, team work, initiative and enthusiasm. CSD offers half-day or full-day internships, with precedence being given to candidates with a minimum commitment of three months. Interns should devote between 20 and 40 hours per week with a possibility for flexible working time. Upon entering CSD internship program, each intern will be assigned a long-term commitment task, based on their individual competencies/interests and built around CSD’s core policy/research focus. Interns will also be assigned short-term tasks corresponding to the needs of the current program/project development and implementation cycle. For the period of their commitment, interns will be granted full access to CSD’s library and to interviews with CSD experts, as well as to CSD’s network of external contacts and associates. Note The internship is unpaid. Specific tasks might involve remuneration. In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, remote internships (full or partial) are also acceptable until the crisis is fully resolved. Approval of candidates Internship applications are reviewed at the end of each month and only shortlisted candidates are contacted by the 5th (or the 10th if the number of applicants is high) of the following month. Prior to joining the CSD internship program, approved candidates from abroad who wish to relocate to Sofia should obtain any relevant medical, accident and/or liability insurance for the whole period of their commitment with CSD.
